Providence Mayor Advocates for Reddit Tipster's $50,000 FBI Reward
A tipster known as 'John' provided crucial information that led to the identification of the shooter in the December 13 Brown University shooting, which left two students dead and nine injured. The FBI had offered a $50,000 reward for information leading to an arrest, but since the suspect, Claudio Manuel Neves Valente, was found dead, the reward's distribution is uncertain. Providence Mayor Brett Smiley has formally requested that the FBI grant the full reward to John, whom he calls a hero for his bravery in assisting law enforcement. The FBI has not commented on the potential payout, emphasizing privacy and future cooperation.
