Catholic Patriarch Celebrates Christmas Mass Amid Gaza's Destruction
During a Christmas Mass at the Holy Family Church in Gaza City, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, encouraged Palestinians to not only survive but to rebuild their lives amidst the devastation caused by ongoing conflict. This visit marks his fourth trip to Gaza since Israel's military campaign began, and it was significant as it followed a deadly strike on the church in July. Despite the challenges, including a reported 70,925 Palestinian deaths since October 7, 2023, Pizzaballa emphasized hope and resilience. The event included a baptism symbolizing new life and hope, reflecting the community's desire for peace and stability as they navigate the aftermath of violence and displacement.
